Mentoring

Are you in need of support or guidance in your BSL skills development or uncertain about your career path as a sign language tutor, communication support worker or even interpreter?

Perhaps some mentoring would be beneficial, but first what is it and how does it work?

What is Mentoring?

Mentoring is not just answering questions or giving support. It is an ongoing tool that allows the mentor to encourage personal and professional development. Mentoring is a confidential, supportive and impartial person focussed relationship. It is conducted in a one-to-one setting with a qualified mentor.

How does it work?

The first session is led by the mentor explaining and dicussing issues, outlining the length and frequency of sessions which will be required. Both email and face-to-face support are provided.

All sessions are documented but are kept confidential.  When mentoring is complete you can request this evidence be handed to you or destroyed.

There is no charge for the induction session which is a maximum of two hours.
